The Chopin Monument in Łazienki Park is among the most famous statues in Poland, showing the composer seated beneath a stylised weeping willow whose windswept branches echo the sweep of his music. Designed in the early 20th century in an Art Nouveau spirit, the original bronze was destroyed by German occupiers and recast after the war. On summer Sundays, free open-air piano recitals of Chopin's works are held at its foot, drawing large crowds to the surrounding lawns. The monument has become an enduring emblem of Polish musical heritage.
