The Grand Theatre on Warsaw's Theatre Square is home to the Polish national opera and ballet and is one of the largest theatres in the world by stage size. Its monumental neoclassical façade, first opened in 1833 and rebuilt after wartime destruction, dominates the square with a long colonnaded front. The vast auditorium hosts opera and ballet on a grand scale, and the building also contains a theatre museum. In the reconstructed heart of the capital, it stands as a symbol of Poland's cultural resilience after the Second World War.
