The Fan Museum in Greenwich is one of very few museums in the world dedicated entirely to hand fans and the art of fan-making. Housed in a pair of restored Georgian townhouses, it displays a collection of several thousand fans spanning centuries and continents, from delicately painted European examples to ornate Asian and commemorative pieces. Changing exhibitions explore fans as objects of fashion, craft and social history. An orangery decorated with murals and a Japanese-style garden add to its charm.
