The Queen's House at Greenwich, designed by Inigo Jones from 1616, was the first fully classical building in England and marked a decisive break from the Tudor style. Commissioned for the queens of James I and Charles I, its elegant white villa proportions introduced Palladian ideas that would reshape British architecture. Inside, the Great Hall forms a perfect cube and the Tulip Stairs spiral without a central support. The house now displays maritime and portrait paintings, including the Armada portrait.
