The Swedish Theatre occupies a curved neoclassical building at the head of the Esplanadi park in central Helsinki, a prominent site facing the city's main shopping street. It is the leading Swedish-language theatre in Finland, reflecting the country's bilingual heritage. Rebuilt after a fire in the 1860s, its rounded stone façade closes the vista along the tree-lined esplanade. The theatre presents drama and musicals in Swedish at one of the most conspicuous corners of the capital.
