Esplanadi is a tree-lined park boulevard in central Helsinki running between two elegant avenues from the market square toward the shopping district. Its central promenade is dotted with statues, a bandstand and seasonal events, and it has long been a favourite place for strolling and people-watching. In summer it fills with open-air performances and crowds enjoying the long daylight, functioning as one of the capital's principal gathering spaces.
