Stromovka is the largest park in Prague, originally a royal hunting ground enclosed in the thirteenth century and opened to the public in the early nineteenth. Its extensive grounds combine meadows, ponds and old woodland crossed by winding paths in the English landscape style. A neo-Gothic former royal summer palace stands among the trees, and a planetarium sits near one edge. The park adjoins the exhibition grounds and offers a large, tranquil green expanse north of the historic city centre.
