St Nicholas Church in the Lesser Town of Prague is widely considered the finest Baroque church in the city, built in the first half of the eighteenth century by a leading family of architects. Its green copper dome and bell tower are prominent features of the skyline below the castle. The interior is a theatrical display of frescoed ceilings, marbled columns and gilded statues, with a vast painted dome above the crossing. The composer Mozart played the organ here, and the church remains a celebrated venue for classical concerts.
