The Vrtba Garden is a terraced Baroque garden climbing the slope of Petrin hill in Prague's Lesser Town. Laid out in the early eighteenth century, it rises in ornamental stairways past balustrades, statues of classical deities, and a sala terrena decorated with frescoes. From the upper terrace visitors gain an intimate view over the red rooftops of Mala Strana toward Prague Castle. Compact and often overlooked, the garden is regarded as one of the most refined examples of Baroque landscape design in the city.
