The Church of St. Nicholas in Prague's Lesser Town is considered one of the finest High Baroque churches in Central Europe. Built by the Dientzenhofer family of architects in the first half of the eighteenth century, it is crowned by a vast green copper dome and a slender bell tower. The interior overwhelms with ceiling frescoes, marbled columns, gilded statues, and an organ that Mozart is said to have played. The dome fresco of the Celebration of the Holy Trinity is among the largest in Europe, filling the church with theatrical grandeur.
