Government Buildings on Merrion Street in Dublin house the offices of the Taoiseach and other key state departments. Completed in 1911 in an Edwardian Baroque style, it was the last major public building erected under British rule and originally served as a college of science. Its domed central block and colonnaded wings enclose a formal forecourt. The building was extensively restored in the 1990s, and free guided tours on Saturdays allow visitors to see the ceremonial staircase, the cabinet room, and a striking stained-glass window.
