Leinster House in Dublin is the seat of the Oireachtas, the Irish parliament, comprising the Dáil and the Seanad. Built in the 1740s as a grand Georgian townhouse for the Earl of Kildare, its two contrasting facades resemble both a country house and a city mansion. The state acquired it in the twentieth century, adapting the interiors for legislative use and adding a domed chamber. Flanked by the National Library and National Museum, it stands in Dublin's cultural quarter, with guided tours when parliament is not sitting.
