The House of the Estates in Helsinki is a nineteenth-century building that once hosted the assembly of the four estates during the era of Finnish autonomy under Russian rule. Its Neo-Renaissance facade bears a sculpted pediment celebrating national progress, and it stands near the Bank of Finland and the government palace. After Finland adopted a unicameral parliament, the building passed to other governmental uses. Today it serves as a venue for state functions and negotiations, forming part of the historic administrative core of the capital.
