Marlborough House is an early-eighteenth-century mansion near St James's Palace, designed by Christopher Wren for the Duchess of Marlborough. It later became a royal residence and now serves as the headquarters of the Commonwealth Secretariat. Inside, murals depicting the Duke of Marlborough's battles line the saloon walls, and the building retains much of its original grandeur. Set behind railings on Pall Mall, it opens occasionally for heritage events. Its shift from ducal home to diplomatic hub reflects London's institutional history.
