Mona Vale, Christchurch

This historic homestead and public garden beside the Avon River preserves an Edwardian mansion set within manicured lawns, rose gardens, a fernery and mature trees. Built in the early twentieth century, the estate was later saved from development and opened to the public as a heritage park. Visitors stroll the riverside grounds, take afternoon tea in the homestead, or hire punts on the adjacent river.
