These public gardens on a headland in the Parnell district display thousands of rose bushes across formal beds, complemented by mature specimen trees and a woodland walk beside the harbour. First developed in the mid-twentieth century, the gardens are especially popular when the roses reach full bloom in early summer. Lawns, ponds and shaded paths make the site a peaceful retreat close to the city. Views extend across the Waitemata Harbour toward the North Shore.
