City Gallery Wellington

Occupying the former public library building on Civic Square, this contemporary art gallery presents a changing programme of New Zealand and international exhibitions rather than a permanent collection. It has built a reputation for ambitious shows spanning painting, sculpture, film, photography and new media. The 1930s building was adapted for gallery use and later refurbished to expand its exhibition floors. Located beside the town hall and central library, it anchors the capital's cultural square.
