This working dock on the Hobart waterfront lies at the heart of the city's maritime life and is famous as the finish line of a celebrated ocean yacht race that arrives from Sydney each New Year. Ringed by historic sandstone warehouses now filled with restaurants, the dock hosts fishing boats and floating punts selling fresh seafood straight from the water. During the summer festival season it fills with crowds, yachts and market stalls. The surrounding Salamanca and Sullivans Cove precincts extend the atmosphere, making the dock a lively focus.
