This grand nineteenth-century theatre is Córdoba's principal opera house and one of the oldest lyric stages in Argentina, inaugurated in 1891. Its Italianate auditorium features tiered boxes, a painted ceiling and a floor that can be raised to convert the stalls into a ballroom. Restored over the years, it continues to host opera, ballet and orchestral concerts. Located near the main square, the theatre anchors the city's cultural life and preserves the ornate atmosphere of the late Belle Époque.
