This unusual park in Tegucigalpa was designed in the early twentieth century as a tribute to Central America's ancient cultures. Its terraced gardens contain scaled replicas of Maya monuments from Copan, including stelae, an altar and a temple, set among stairways and fountains. Long a favourite retreat in the capital, it fell into decline before restoration efforts revived it. The park offers a shaded, atmospheric corner near the historic centre that celebrates the country's pre-Columbian legacy.
