This monumental statue of Christ stands atop El Picacho hill in the United Nations Park overlooking Tegucigalpa. Inaugurated in 1997, the concrete figure rises about 30 metres and is visible from much of the capital below. Visitors reach it through a hilltop park with gardens, a small zoo and panoramic viewpoints over the twin cities of Tegucigalpa and Comayaguela. Illuminated at night, the statue has become one of the most recognisable symbols of the Honduran capital.
