Saint Paul's Church is the oldest surviving Protestant place of worship in Canada and the oldest building in Halifax, a wooden Georgian church raised in 1750 shortly after the city's founding. Its white galleried interior and box pews recall colonial Anglican worship, and memorial tablets crowd its walls. A famous silhouette resembling a human profile, said to result from the 1917 harbour explosion, is embedded in a window over the porch. The church anchors the historic Grand Parade square in the city centre.
