Canada Place is a landmark on the Vancouver waterfront distinguished by five soaring white fabric sails that evoke a ship under way. Built as the Canadian pavilion for the 1986 world's fair, it now houses a convention centre, hotel, cruise-ship terminal and an aerial theatre attraction. A promenade wraps the pier with sweeping views of the harbour, the North Shore mountains and floatplanes taking off from the water. The sail-topped structure has become one of the most recognizable images of the city's skyline.
