On the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City, this museum is devoted to the collective histories and cultures of the thirty-nine Native nations now headquartered in Oklahoma, most of them forcibly removed there in the 19th century. Designed with a monumental earthen mound and a curved Hall of the People aligned to the solstice sun, the building itself embodies Indigenous design principles. Galleries present the nations' own voices, art, and stories of survival and adaptation. It offers a museum experience shaped directly by the tribes it represents.
