This small brick house in Old City Philadelphia is associated with Betsy Ross, the upholsterer traditionally credited with sewing an early American flag. Dating to around 1740, the narrow trinity-style home has been furnished to depict the working and domestic life of a colonial craftswoman. Visitors pass through cramped rooms, a courtyard, and an upholstery workshop where costumed interpreters explain period trades. Whether or not the flag legend is literally true.
