Founded in 1695, this Episcopal church in Old City Philadelphia was where many of the nation's founders worshipped, including George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. The present Georgian building, with its soaring white steeple once the tallest structure in the American colonies, was built in stages through the mid-eighteenth century. A palladian window and elegant interior reflect English craftsmanship of the period. Franklin and several other signers of the Declaration of Independence are buried in the church's nearby burial ground.
