The Anglican provincial cathedral of Uganda sits atop Namirembe hill overlooking central Kampala, its red-domed brick form a fixture of the capital's skyline. Rebuilt several times after earlier structures were destroyed, the present building dates from the early twentieth century and is the mother church of the Church of Uganda. Its hilltop grounds offer wide views across the city. A bell that once summoned worshippers and memorials to early missionaries recall the arrival of Christianity in the kingdom of Buganda.
