Jnan Sbil, also called the Bou Jeloud Gardens, is a historic public park between the old and new medieval districts of Fes, first laid out in the eighteenth century and comprehensively restored in recent years. Watered by the Oued Fes, it contains mature palms, giant bamboo, a central lake, rose beds and shaded promenades arranged in themed sections. Fountains and old water channels recall its origins as a royal pleasure ground. As one of the few large green spaces in the dense old city, it is a favoured retreat.
