A contemporary art museum built into the terraces of the Cascade monument in central Yerevan, established through the collection of a philanthropist of Armenian descent. Galleries reached by escalators inside the giant stairway display modern sculpture, glass and painting, including works by well-known artists. The outdoor courtyards and gardens around the base are filled with sculptures that have become a defining feature of the city. The centre combines art, architecture and sweeping views, drawing people up the hillside.
