A monumental statue of a woman holding a sword standing high above Yerevan in Victory Park, symbolising the strength and vigilance of the nation. Erected in the 1960s on a massive stone pedestal, it replaced an earlier statue of Stalin that had occupied the site. The pedestal houses a military museum, and around the base stand tanks, artillery and other equipment. From the hilltop the monument commands wide views over the capital, and the surrounding park is a popular place for evening walks and family outings.
