The Grand Mosque of Bandung stands on the western side of the city's main square and is the principal place of worship in the West Java capital. Rebuilt several times over its long history, its current form features a broad prayer hall and two tall minarets that visitors can climb for a wide view over the surrounding streets and rooftops. A large plaza of artificial grass in front of the mosque has become a popular gathering place, where families relax and children play in the evenings. It is a lively focal point of downtown Bandung.
