The Geological Museum of Bandung, founded in 1928, is one of the oldest scientific institutions in Indonesia and holds a major collection of fossils, minerals, rocks and volcanic material gathered across the archipelago. Its galleries display casts of prehistoric skeletons, including specimens related to early humans found on Java, along with meteorites and models explaining the country's intense volcanic activity. The Art Deco building, dating from the colonial era, is itself a landmark.
