Built during the reign of King Rama III in the 1830s, this temple in the Rattanakosin district is known for its ordination hall and an unusual set of Chinese-influenced sculptures of female disciples. The poet Sunthorn Phu spent part of his monastic life here, and a small museum on the grounds preserves objects tied to him. Whitewashed walls, tiered roofs and gilded gables frame courtyards that see relatively few tourists, rewarding those exploring the old city on foot.
