A landmark building on the University of Dhaka campus, Curzon Hall was constructed in the early twentieth century and named after the British viceroy Lord Curzon. Its design fuses European and Mughal elements, with red-brick arcades, arched verandahs and decorative motifs set amid gardens. Originally intended as a town hall, it became part of the university and now houses science faculties. The building played a role in the language movement of 1952 and remains one of the most graceful examples of colonial-era architecture in the capital.
