A former colonial-era warehouse in Anping now enveloped by the roots and canopy of enormous banyan trees, their pale trunks flowing over and through the brick walls. Once a merchant firm's salt and camphor store, it was abandoned for decades while the banyans slowly consumed the ruin. Rather than clearing them, conservators added walkways and stairs that let visitors move among the living structure. The eerie fusion of masonry and root, with light filtering through gaps in the roof, has made it one of Tainan's most photographed spots.
