The tall bell tower of this cathedral complex on Bauman Street is among the most prominent structures of central Kazan, rising in red brick high above the pedestrian avenue. Built at the end of the nineteenth century in the pseudo-Russian style, it belongs to the Epiphany parish where the great bass Feodor Chaliapin was baptised, a link marked by a nearby monument. The tower's upper level serves as an observation point over the historic quarter. Its ornate brickwork and height make it a favourite landmark.
