Standing on the embankment of the city pond in central Yekaterinburg, this ornate nineteenth-century mansion is one of the most photographed buildings in the Urals for its striking green, white and terracotta facade. Combining neo-Gothic and Moorish decoration with a distinctive rotunda, it was rebuilt in lavish form by its merchant owner Nikolai Sevastyanov. It later served public roles and now hosts official receptions. The pond-side setting, framed by fountains, makes its colourful walls a waterfront centrepiece.
