This Baroque palace in the Antakalnis district was built at the turn of the eighteenth century for the powerful Sapieha family, among the wealthiest nobles of the Grand Duchy. Its symmetrical wings and once-lavish gardens reflected the ambitions of its owners, though the estate later served as a hospital and fell into decline. A recent restoration has revived the building as a cultural venue. Standing among the churches and greenery of the district, the palace recalls the aristocratic splendour of the old Lithuanian state.
