This Baroque church in the Antakalnis district of Vilnius is renowned for an interior covered in thousands of white stucco figures. Built in the second half of the seventeenth century, its restrained exterior gives no hint of the exuberant sculptural decoration within, where saints, soldiers, plants and mythological scenes crowd every surface. A boat-shaped glass chandelier hangs in the nave. Commissioned as a symbol of the city's revival after war and plague, the church remains one of the finest examples of Baroque art in the region.
