Church of Our Lady of Remedy, Kotor

Higher up the fortified hillside above Kotor than the church of the same devotion lower down, this small chapel sits near the ramparts on the climb toward the Castle of San Giovanni. Dating from the medieval period, its simple stone walls once sheltered pilgrims and defenders alike on the steep ascent. The surrounding fortifications wind up the mountainside in a dramatic series of switchbacks. From the terrace outside visitors gain one of the finest vantage points over the bay.
