Terazije is a central square and boulevard forming the ceremonial heart of downtown Belgrade. Its name recalls the Ottoman-era water towers that once measured supply to public fountains, and a monumental drinking fountain still marks the site. The square is framed by early twentieth-century hotels, department stores, and the landmark Moskva Hotel with its glazed-tile facade. A busy hub for trams, cafés, and civic events, Terazije connects the older core near the fortress with the newer commercial districts to the south.
