Republic Square is the principal public square of Belgrade and a traditional meeting point marked by the phrase to gather at the horse. The equestrian monument to Prince Mihailo Obrenović stands at its centre, one arm outstretched, commemorating the ruler who secured the withdrawal of Ottoman garrisons. Grand facades ring the space, including the National Museum and the National Theatre. Renovated in recent years, the square has become a pedestrian hub hosting concerts, celebrations, and everyday city life.
