One of Croatia's oldest museums, the Archaeological Museum on Zrinjevac square holds collections spanning prehistory, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, alongside key finds from Croatian soil. Its best-known treasures include the Vučedol dove, a ceramic ritual vessel from a Copper Age culture, and the Zagreb Mummy wrapped in linen bearing the longest surviving text in the Etruscan language. Coin cabinets and a courtyard garden of ancient monuments extend the displays. The palace setting adds grandeur to a wide-ranging survey of the ancient world.
