This tree-lined park square forms the first link in Zagreb's celebrated Green Horseshoe, a U-shaped chain of nineteenth-century parks and pavilions. Rows of mature plane trees shade gravel paths lined with busts of notable Croats, ornamental fountains, and a cast-iron music pavilion where bands still perform in summer. A historic meteorological column has recorded weather for generations of passers-by. Framed by grand Austro-Hungarian facades, Zrinjevac serves as an elegant open-air living room for the city.
