Zagreb City Museum

Housed in a former convent of the Poor Clares in the Upper Town, this museum traces the history of Zagreb from Roman-era settlement through medieval Gradec and Kaptol to the modern metropolis. Displays combine archaeological finds, scale models, guild artefacts, and reconstructed interiors, while the building's own layered walls reveal earlier structures beneath the exhibition floors. Rooms document the great fires, earthquakes, and floods that shaped the city. A quiet inner courtyard and lapidarium round out the visit.
