The Tailors' Tower, or Bastionul Croitorilor, is the best-preserved fragment of Cluj-Napoca's medieval walls, guarding a corner of the old fortifications from the fifteenth century. Named for the guild that defended and maintained it, the sturdy stone bastion survived sieges and later served as a powder store and archive. Restored in recent years, it now hosts cultural events and small exhibitions on the city's history. Its thick walls and battlements give a rare sense of the defensive ring that once enclosed the Saxon and Hungarian town.
