The Matthias Corvinus Monument stands in the main square of Cluj-Napoca, honouring the Hungarian king who was born in the city in 1443. Unveiled in 1902 and designed by sculptor János Fadrusz, it shows the king mounted and surrounded by his generals, with defeated foes at the base. The bronze group is considered a masterpiece of Central European public sculpture and won awards at the Paris exposition. Set before St. Michael's Church, it remains a focal point for gatherings and a symbol of the city's layered history.
