The Casa Presei Libere, or House of the Free Press, is a towering Stalinist skyscraper on the northern edge of Bucharest, completed in the 1950s. Modelled on Moscow's monumental architecture, its stepped central tower and symmetrical wings once housed the state printing works and party newspapers. For decades it ranked among the tallest buildings in the country and appeared on banknotes and postcards. Renamed after the fall of communism, it still holds media offices and stands beside a large exhibition park and roundabout.
