The Cabbage Market is one of the oldest squares in Brno, a sloping cobbled plaza that has hosted an open-air produce market since the thirteenth century. At its centre stands the ornate Baroque Parnassus Fountain, an allegorical grotto of rocks and figures crowned by a statue of Europe. Ringed by historic palaces, including the seat of the Moravian Gallery, the square still fills with stalls of flowers, fruit, and vegetables. Beneath it lies a network of medieval cellars, part of an underground labyrinth open to visitors.
