The Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul crowns Petrov hill above Brno, its twin neo-Gothic spires forming the city's defining silhouette. A church has stood here since the eleventh century, and the present building blends Baroque and later Gothic-revival elements. Local tradition holds that its bells ring noon an hour early, at eleven, commemorating a ruse said to have lifted a Swedish siege in 1645. The interior features ornate altars and a crypt, while the terrace behind offers sweeping views across the rooftops of the Moravian capital.
